Building a Sustainable Future for the

Josephine County Food Bank

The Problem

How does hunger affect Josephine County?

Josephine County has lagged behind the Country and the State of Oregon in economic recovery. Our unemployment rate is one of the highest in the state and we anticipate a rise in demand for community programs due to trends from federal  and state levels. For example; regular reductions in food stamp allocations and temporary emergency food and shelter programs have diminished resources. Hunger issues affect over 11,000 residents every month in Josephine County but they go further than faceless numbers, they affect seniors, kids and households in our neighborhoods.

What is the Friends of Josephine County Food Bank Network?

Friends is a network of active citizens in our community who have a passion to support the Josephine County Food Bank. We have created a Board of Directors establishing a non profit 501(c)3 organization. Our goal is to keep the funding raised in Josephine County, to benefit the County in the best possible way. Simply put, our involvement is focused on one thing: to effectively and efficiently address the problem of hunger in our community.

We need your help, we cannot do it alone.

Friends of the Josephine County Food Bank cannot solve the problem of hunger by acting alone. Members are skilled in partnering with agencies, donors and stakeholders to make an impact, on and for, us all.

Friends adds value and support to the important and unique contributions of each agency, maximizing the services each agency offers.

We equitably distribute all resources, monitor agencies fairly and according to policy, and Members are experienced stewards of funds, time and trust.

Friends informs, educates and provides opportunities for donor participation in our activities; the door is always open.

Our Core Values

We help develop partnerships.

We are not only good stewards of all donated resources, but we seek and support mutually beneficial community relationships to maximize resources. We conduct an annual independent audit of both food and funds.

We depend on our volunteers and team members in fulfillment of our mission. We actively involve volunteers throughout the organization and strive to pair up the best fits to achieve maximum results AND volunteer satisfaction in the tasks available.

We honor, appreciate and acknowledge the contributions of each volunteer.
